The exchange rates of 100 US dollars against the Iraqi dinar rose to 143,500 dinars on Wednesday, in the currency markets of the Kurdistan Region.

Owner of one of the currency exchange offices in Sulaymaniyah, Shwan Hadi, told PUKmedia: With the opening of the currency markets, the prices of 100 US dollars reached 143,500 dinars same as Tuesday's prices.

The prices of the remaining currencies against the Iraqi dinar on Wednesday are as follows: (100 pounds = 195,000 dinars. 100 euros = 174,500 dinars. 100 Turkish lira = 19.500 dinars. 100 thousand Iranian tomans = 5.900 dinars.)

Currency exchange rates against the dinar has recently hiked in Iraq, which largely relies on oil sales and is facing large budget deficit due to the drop in oil prices as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

To cover the budget deficit, the Iraqi government has recently deducted government employees salaries, as well as a currency devaluation by almost 20% in the yet to be voted on 2021 budget to address the problem.
