Sulaymaniyah's International Stadium Project capacity will be expanded

In an exclusive interview on Monday, Hersh Kamal, deputy head of Nawroz Sports Club, spoke about the club, sports in Kurdistan and the latest developments in the construction of Nawroz International Stadium in Sulaymaniyah.
Mr. Kamal said: "Works in the project is progressing very fast and the stadium's capacity will be expanded from 12,000 seats to 14,500 seats."
He also revealed that they are in efforts with Sulaymaniyah Municipality to get more land in the suburb of the stadium to build a second stadium to be used for training.
Mr. Kamal pointed out that they working on modernizing the stadium's exterior so that it has a modern sports complex look.
He said: "If the construction works continue on that fast pace, the project may be completed before the initial time that was set for the project completion and which is a year and 8 months."
Mr. Lahur Sheikh Jangi, Co-Leader of the PUK and CEO of the Nawroz Sports Club, laid the foundation stone of the project in October last year.
The stadium is the first of its kind in the Kurdistan Region with its large capacity and modern infrastructure and its built in accordance with the standards of the English stadiums and has an area of 35,611 meter square.
