On Sunday, a delegation representing the Kurdish parties visited the Iraqi Islamic Party to discuss the current situation.

During a meeting, the Kurdish parties discussed with the Iraqi Islamic Party the file of forming a joint force in Kirkuk governorate to protect all citizens without discrimination.

In another axis of the meeting, the need to provide services to all areas of Kirkuk was highlighted.

The Kurdish parties discussed with the Islamic party preparations for the upcoming legislative elections, where they stressed the need to urge citizens to review the Commission’s centers to register their names and update the voter register.

Kirkuk, 238 kilometers north of Baghdad, is part of the areas disputed between the KRG and the Iraqi government and consists of almost all components of Iraq.

The disputed areas are areas north of Iraq and are defined by the Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution as Kurdish areas that have been Arabized during the former Iraqi Baath Regime.
