Lahur Sheikh Jangi, co-leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, received, on Thursday, General Eric Hill, Commanding General for Special Forces of the US-led coalition.
During the meeting, General Hill extended his congratulations on the success of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, praising the important role of the new leadership of PUK.
On the issue of forming the new Iraqi government, the two sides stressed during the meeting, the need for the new government to be efficient.
On the security situation in Iraq and Syria, Sheikh Jangi and General Hill confirmed that ISIS still constitutes a major threat to the region, especially that it was able to take advantage of the financial crisis and the spread of the novel coronavirus to reorganize its terrorist activities.
For his part, General Hill praised the activities and efforts of the Kurdish Anti-Terrorism Forces, which has worked greatly with US forces since 2003 in fighting terrorists.
General Hill said that the Anti-Terrorism Forces have a large and effective role in facing terrorist groups, stressing the readiness of the international coalition forces to carry out any joint activities with them.
