Salar Mahmoud, Advisor of the Iraqi President confirmed that the remains of the victims of the infamous Anfal operations that were found in the mass graves in Samawah will be transferred from Baghdad to the Kurdistan Region.
Salar Mahmoud said in a statement that he followed up the DNA testing of 171 of the remains of Anfal victims that were found in Samawah.
He is following the work of the medical team, and saw a section of the evidence and clothes of the victims, pointing out that the remains are ready for transport from Baghdad to the Kurdistan Region.
On the matter of the remains of the Yezidis, who were exterminated by ISIS in the city of Sinjar, he confirmed that the remains of 134 Yezidis are still in Baghdad, and that the Forensic Medicine Institute has conducted DNA tests only for 64 of them.
He added that the scenes that he saw represents a deep and unprecedented catastrophe that struck the Kurds.
Mahmoud expressed that after 26 years of the notorious “Anfal” operations, it is painful to see the remains of the Yazidi Kurds, along with the remains of “Anfal ” adding that "history repeats itself".
