Abdul Mahdi: The budget is not just figures

Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Thursday, 7/11/2019, stressed on the importance of the public budget in the lives of citizens, the country, and the economy.

 

Abdul-Mahdi said during the chairmanship of the expanded meeting of the Committee on the preparation of the financial budget for 2020, it is not only figures and any imbalance in it leads to an imbalance in economic progress, health, education, and other sectors.

 

The Prime Minister added: "We are working to find a budget capable of managing the economy in a sound scientific manner and increase non-oil resources, and begin serious reforms and adjustments necessary for all outstanding and thorny financial problems in a national and equitable spirit."

 

A statement issued by the government on Twitter, said that during the meeting they reviewed the lagging projects that led to the loss of huge funds, jobs, and caused unemployment, and stalled projects returned to work, and discussed several economic, financial and investment related issues.

 

According to the statement, the Prime Minister directed the need for monitoring and accountability for performance and implementation, and the continued hold of the meetings of the Budget Committee to accelerate the completion and submission to the House of Representatives at the earliest.
