The top films of world cinema in 2019 won the 4th edition of Slemani International Film Festival's Gold and Silver Award of this international prestigious event in Iraqi Kurdistan region in the International Section.
The jury members of World Cinema Competition (International) of festival were CEO director and head of Berlin International Short Film Festival Heinz Hermanns (Germany), scriptwriter, director and producer Derakhshandeh (Iran), director, producer and camera manager Adrian Belic (USA), the executive manager of Tampere Film Festival Juhani Alanen (Finland) as well as Film and Media manager Zülfiye Akkulak (Germany).
In the World Cinema section of the festival several films including "Parasite", "A Tale of Three Sisters" and "Castle of Dreams" from Iran were displayed The 72nd Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival's winner "Parasite" director Bong Joon-ho and producer Han Jin-Won received the Silver Pine award in Slemani International Film Festival.
The record-breaking, specialty box office, "Parasite" was introduced as a best foreign film in 92nd Academy Awards ceremony by South Korea in 2020.
"A Tale of Three Sisters" is a 2019 Turkish drama film directed by Emin Alper. It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. Camere Ebuzziya won the Silver Pine award of the 4th edition of Slemani International Film Festival as the best women actress.
'Qasr-e Shirin' (Castle of Dreams) film directed by Reza Mirkarimi has managed to win three awards at the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Best Actor Award of the event went to the movie’s star Hamed Behdad, and Mirkarimi won the Best Director and the Golden Goblet prize for the film.
The film has also won two awards at the Batumi International Art-House Film Festival in Georgia and was selected as the best film according to critics in West and East Eurasian Film Festival (Orenburg, Russia).
In the competition sections of the festival several films were displayed including "So Long, My Son" directed by Wang Xiaoshuai from China, "Screwdriver" directed by Bassam Jarbawi from Palestine which won Pine Award of the festival, "The Delegation" directed by Bujar Aliman from Albania in which Victor zhusti won the silver pine award for best actor, "The Mute" directed by Bartosz Konopka from Belgium and Poland in which Jacek Podgorski won the Silver Pine award for best shooting, "Fire Will Come" directed by Oliver Laxe from Spain, France and Luxemburg, which has won several prized from France and Poland film festivals, "Amina" directed by Ayman Zeidan from Syria as well as "Insiders" directed by Hüseyin Karabey from Turkey.
"So Long, My Son" was selected to compete for the Golden Bear at the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. At the festival, the film won the two main acting awards, with Wang Jingchun and Yong Mei winning the Silver Bear for Best Actor and Actress, respectively.
Presided by Fuad Jalal, the festival was organized by Masti Film Company and Mullah Bakhtiar the official in charge of supporting the festival, Fuad Jalal, Festival Manger and head of Masti Film Company, Danar Omar Fares, Artistic Director Festival, Lina Raza, Program Director of the Festival and a number of prominent artists.
At least 134 films from 79 countries, especially the production of 2018 and 2019, in two sections including the World Cinema Competition (International); comprising feature and short films; documentary, animated and experimental, and the Kurdish Cinema (national) comprising feature and short works; documentary, animation and experimental will attend this international cinematic event.
