Statement issued by the Political Bureau meeting

On Tuesday afternoon, the political office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, held a meeting under the supervision of Mr. Kosrat Rasul Ali, and the participation of Dr. Barham Ahmed Salih, the second deputy of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, through (video conference) in the city of Sulaymaniyah, where they discussed the latest political developments in the Kurdistan region and Iraq.

 

The Political Bureau stressed the peaceful demonstrations, in order to radical reform and face corruption, and worked to improve the living conditions of citizens and provide services. also adding that Violence is an unacceptable act by any party. It is destabilizing security and stability in Iraq, diverting the demonstrations from their tracks and wasting the real objectives of the demonstrators.

 

The Political Bureau extends its condolences to the families of the victims, who died in the demonstrations, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded, stressing at the same time that all Iraqi security forces must direct their attempts and work to calm the situation and also, to resolve the problems through civil dialogue.

 

With regard to contacts between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad,  and the Political Bureau stressed on the attitude of PUK, as to resolve outstanding problems through serious and responsible dialogue and in accordance with the Constitution.

 

The meeting included discussing the accelerating events in western Kurdistan and northern Syria. Fears of major attacks on the security and safety of the region as well as the world. Continued tension will result in a major human catastrophe and will prepare the ground for the emergence and dangers of terrorist gangs, especially the ISIS terrorists.

 

The Political Bureau announced that PUK through various channels and all its capabilities, works to confront tension and war, which forces the Kurdish people in western Kurdistan and northern Syria to bleed blood and a human catastrophe, calling on the international community to work to cope with tension to hold all parties responsible, and help Kurds in Western Kurdistan.

 

In light of the serious changes, the Politburo stressed on the unity of the people of Kurdistan and the strengthening of relations between the Kurdish political parties in this unstable situation, and the sensitive situation requires the highest level of calm and cooperation and unity of position, from all parties.

 

The Political Bureau declares that the PUK, as a force responsible to a national, democratic and responsible duty, works closely to monitor the situation, its changes and developments, and will work without delay to safeguard the interests of the people of Kurdistan, peace and security and overcome risks.
