Kosrat Rasul: There is a unified position on holding a qualitative PUK congress

Kosrat Rasul Ali, Deputy Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), received on Sunday 8/9/2019 in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Steven Fagin, the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region and his accompanying delegation.

 

During the meeting which was attended by Shalaw Kosrat Rasul, a leading member in charge of the PUK's Erbil Center, discussed the situation in the Kurdistan region and relations between the region and Baghdad and the party and organizational situation of the PUK.

 

The two sides emphasized the importance of the PUK, Iraq and the region, stressing at the same time that the congress of the PUK is to reorganize the structure of the party and to set a new program for the future of the party and provide better services for the people of the Kurdistan region.

 

"There is a unanimous stance to organize the PUK and hold a qualitative congress that will make the PUK an umbrella under which all the strugglers and loyalists can meet," Rasul said.

 

The Deputy Secretary General of the PUK confirmed that the PUK is with reaching an agreement between the Kurdistan region and Baghdad and a radical solution to the problems between the parties and for that the PUK has its own decision and agendas and tries to implement it.

 

On the issue of Kirkuk, the Deputy Secretary General and the US Consul General discussed the situation in Kirkuk and all Kurdish areas, and stressed the need to normalize the situation in these areas and the Kurdish parties to work with one position and a unified speech for this issue.

 

They also discussed US attempts to help the Peshmerga forces and the reform steps inside the Peshmerga.

 

The last axis of the meeting was the situation in the Kurdistan region and the relations between the political parties, and the two sides agreed on the need for healthy relations between the Kurdish forces and parties and the parties efforts to develop reforms and living conditions and services of citizens.
