The Presidency of the Republic congratulated the Governor of Sulaymaniyah Haval Abu Bakr on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Sulaymaniyah Museum.
In a congratulatory message, the Iraqi presidency said: "We are pleased to express our sincere congratulations to you on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Sulaymaniyah Museum, which was founded on July 14, 1961 and reopened in 2000 by Jalal Talabani."
"The Sulaymaniyah Museum is the second largest museum in Iraq after the National Museum in Baghdad. It represents a clear indication of the bright history of the city of Sulaymaniyah, where it contains many rare artifacts and antiques, some of which date back to the prehistoric period," the presidency said.
"The role of this museum is to preserve the Iraqi heritage."
