The Ministry of Defense in the federal government found two mass grave sites which are suspected to contain the remains of Kuwaiti prisoners in the south of the country.

A statement issued by the ministry said on Monday, 1/7/2019, PUKmedia received a copy of it:  "the two sites which are presumed to contain the remains of Kuwaiti prisoners are located within the province of Muthanna - the road of the Nogra Salman," adding that "the two sites were found in cooperation between the Iraqi and Kuwaiti authorities and the International Red Cross Commission."

The statement pointed out that "the remains were removed from the sites and were deposited with the forensic department in Baghdad, to extract the genetic map and matching them with the DNA of the families of the missing."

According to the ministry, the Kuwaiti authorities will be provided with samples of all remains to complete DNA screening procedures.
