The president receives the Omani foreign minister

President Barham Salih confirmed that Iraq, through in its Arab depth and its Islamic neighborhood, has a priority in achieving regional stability in accordance with the mutual and shared interests among the countries of the region.

 

His Excellency received the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, Yusuf bin Alawi, and his accompanying delegation at the Presidential Office in Baghdad, Wednesday, June 12, 2019.  

 

During the meeting, the President said that the stability of Iraq is a key factor for the security of the region, stressing that Baghdad and Muscat could play a significant and influential role for their stature in the region as well as their desire for joint action and coordination on regional issues.

 

His Excellency welcomed the decision of the Sultanate of Oman to open its embassy in Iraq, saying that it is a positive step by the Omani brothers for deepening frames of cooperation between the two countries in a way that contributes to the economic growth and prosperity of the two brotherly peoples.

 

For his part, Mr. Bin Alawi asserted that his visit to Iraq is of great importance to consolidate bilateral relations and unify positions on situations in the region. 

The Omani Minister reiterated his country's support for Iraq in all fields.
