President Salih receives an official invitation to attend the Islamic Summit Conference

President Barham Salih received an official invitation from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia to attend the Islamic Summit Conference, which is expected to be held in Mecca late this month.


His Excellency received Mr. Hassan al-Omeri, the Representative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, at the Presidential Office in Baghdad, Wednesday, May 15, 2019.


During the meeting, the President emphasized Iraq's keenness to pursue the policy of openness towards neighboring countries and the rest of the world in general.


President Salih commended the consolidation of the foundations of mutual cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia to serve the interests of both countries and peoples.


His Excellency asked Mr. al-Omeri to convey his greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his wishes to the brotherly Saudi people for continued progress and prosperity.


For his part, the Representative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdul Aziz to President Barham Salih and his wishes to the Iraqi people for further stability, peace and progress. 


Mr. al-Omeri asserted that his country stands by Iraq and confirmed the Saudi Arabia’s keenness to consolidate relations between the two brotherly countries.
