Washington commemorates Anfal's crime

The United States consulate in Arbil on Sunday recalled the anniversary of the Anfal tragedy against the Kurdish people while reaffirming its commitment to prevent such atrocities in the future.


In a statement obtained by PUKmedia, the consulate said: "It is with great sadness that we commemorate the victims of Saddam Hussein’s Anfal campaign which killed thousands of men, women, and children, and wounded and maimed many more. The United States reaffirms its commitment to stand with all Iraqis to prevent such future atrocities, and to ensure a secure, democratic, and prosperous future for Iraq.
