President Barham participates in the Arab-European Summit

Spokesman for the President of the Republic, Dr. Luqman Al-Faily, said that President Barham Salih will participate in the Arab-European summit scheduled for Sunday in Sharm El Sheikh.

The president will meet on the sidelines of the conference with a number of kings and heads of brotherly and friendly countries to discuss bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them and expand horizons of joint cooperation, the spokesman said.

He pointed out that Iraq will participate in the conference's axes, which include strengthening Arab-European relations in the fields of security, counter-terrorism, trade, investment, pluralism and migration, as well as the situation in the region and ways of dealing with regional challenges.

Faily explained that after the end of the Arab-European summit, the president will fly from Egypt to France on a two-day working visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, and might meet with senior French officials and senators.

The Spokesman affirmed that the participation of the President in the conference and his visit to France comes to activate and strengthen the role of Iraq on the Arab and international levels, and based on the directions of the President of the Republic and the Iraqi government in the need to open Iraq to its neighboring countries and to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields and to serve the common interests.
