     Peshmerga Women's Forces celebrate their 17th anniversary

Monday marked the anniversary of Women`s Regiment of the Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces which was founded Nov 11, 1996 on the order of Jalal Talabani, the Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK).
Commander of Kurdistan Women Peshmerga Forces, Nahida Ahmad,  has pointed out that their forces has about 600 members, and she also highlighted their important role in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003  in Kirkuk and Khanaqin.
She also noted that they had active role in founding women`s part in the Security and Border Guard forces; they also opened some courses in terms of education and politics.
