The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), whether in the Kurdistan Region or in Baghdad, is pursuing two key paths: unity and peace.

In the Kurdistan Region:
The stability and progress of the Kurdistan Region, as well as greater accomplishments in Baghdad, are encouraged, and the unity of the Kurdish parties is regarded as one of the most crucial aspects.

Twenty political groups from the Kurdistan Region participated in a meeting that the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) hosted. Once more serving as a platform for the unification of all political forces, President Mam Jalal's house is the ideal method for achieving political stability and fostering unity, particularly when it comes to reconstructing the division of the Kurdish political house.

Kurds are impacted by this split
According to Nask Tofiq, a member of the Kurdistan Islamic Union's (KIU) Executive Council, "one of the most crucial components for the prosperity and stability of the Kurdistan Region, whether as a political entity or as security and social security" All parties are united in their desire for Kurdish rights when they travel to Iraq.

“The rift within the Kurdish community”, she said, “has been a problem for 30 years and weakens the Kurds in Iraq and causes them to turn on one another”.

She continued, "Nearby countries would use us against each other to preserve their own interests if we are not united, separated, and act against one another”.
A delicate situation exists in the Kurdistan Region
The Kurdish people's rights will be protected and the structure of the Kurdistan Region will be greatly impacted by unity.

The Kurdistan Region is in a very delicate situation, and there are considerable risks, according to Choman Mohammed, Secretary of the Legal Chamber of the Gorran Movement.

Mohammed warned that “if things went on as they were, the region's infrastructure would suffer significantly, and our strength in Iraq would deteriorate day by day, putting our legal and constitutional rights in jeopardy.”

"The PUK's initiative for unity is significant and necessary for this delicate and hazardous scenario facing the region, but only if it aspires to unite the Kurdish people and unity on crucial issues," the statement continued.
A Unifying Council
The rights of the Kurdish people will be protected through the cooperation of the Kurdish parties inside a council.

"Formation of a council in the region will cement the unity of the political parties," Salar Sarhad, the PUK's head of the Kurdistan Relations Board, told PUKMEDIA.

"This political council would be a good support for the administration and parliament since any concerns facing the region can be discussed and solved by this council," said Salar Sarhad.
Achievement and unity
In Baghdad, more progress has been made whenever the Kurdish parties have reached an understanding on a national problem.

“The Kurdish political forces have benefited our people every time they have come together”, according to Sadiq Jabari, a member of the Administrative Board of the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party (KSDP). “The success of any Kurdish demand in Iraq has been attributed to the parties' unity, which has been in the best interests of the Kurdistan Region's citizens, particularly with the federal government (Iraqi Government)”.

"The divide and lack of unity of the political parties demonstrate the fragility and national fragmentation of the Kurdistan Region people, which is the fundamental reason why our adversaries perceive this as an opportunity and treat us badly," he stated.

The Socialist Party has consistently backed initiatives that promote togetherness, according to Jabari.

There is an endeavor to bring the Kurdish parties together under the direction of Bafel Jalal Talabani, President of the PUK, in order to safeguard the region's physical landscape and enhance citizen services. The PUK's campaign is being supported by other parties as well.

In Baghdad:
The late President Mam Jalal, the founder of the PUK and the first Kurdish president of Iraq, was referred to as the guardian of all Iraqis since he served as the hub that united all Iraqis with all of their constituent parts.

Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish leaders who would not otherwise speak to one another were brought to the table for the first time ever thanks to President Mam Jalal's enormous charm, negotiating abilities, and sheer willpower.

The actions of his son, the new PUK President, are similar. For the first time in nine years, Iraqi political groups representing all constituents (Kurds, Sunnis, Shia, etc.) convened on November 28, 2022, in Baghdad, when several crucial decisions were reached and adopted. As a result, the PUK once more served as a hub for Iraqis to gather.

At the gathering, it was decided to reactivate the Article 140 committee which is to oversee the implementation of Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution.

Article 140 of the Iraqi constitution was written primarily to handle the issue of the territories disputed between the KRG in Erbil and the federal authority in Baghdad. These conflicts took place under the Ba'ath government and are a result of the extensive Arabization work that was done in the provinces of Diyala, Kirkuk, Nineveh, and Saladin.
It is one of the most crucial meetings that ever took place
"One of the most crucial meetings ever had was this one. The fact that the Kurds participated with a single speech and a single agenda during this meeting demonstrated an important message, proving that Mam Jalal's home has the capacity to unite all the various voices of Iraq ``stated Fahmi Burhan, the chairman of the PUK's board for the Kurdistan territories outside of the Region.
