Political and academic figure Dr. Marif Omar Gull died in Slemani

On Saturday, the doctor, political and academic figure Dr. Marif Omar Gull died in a hospital in Slemani at the age of 65, after his health deteriorated several days ago.

Dr. Marif Omar Gull was born in the village of Hashezini in the Sangaw sub-district of Chamchamal district in 1956.

Dr. Omar Gull Graduated from the College of Law in Baghdad in 1982, and after a year, he was appointed as an employee in the Irrigation Directorate in Slemani Governorate.

Dr. Marif Omar Gull was arrested in 1982 because of his political stances and imprisoned in the General Security prisons in Baghdad.

In 1990, he obtained a master's degree at the University of Kyiv in Ukraine.

Dr. Omar Gull was the first person to write a master's letter about the genocide that the people of Kurdistan were subjected to.

In 1995, he received his Ph.D. at Kyiv University.

In 1999, he worked as a professor at the University of Slemani.

From 2011 to 2015, Dr. Omar Gull was appointed as the Dean of the Law College in Koya University, and from 2005 to 2006 he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Slemani.

Dr. Marif Omar worked as the chief editor of the Nergz Publication in Kirkuk.
 
Throughout his life, he published many academic and legal books and books about genocide. He also has 5 collections of poetry.

Besides his books, Dr. Marif Omar published dozens of articles and important subjects in many Kurdish and Arabic newspapers and magazines.
