After more than a year in prison, Badal Barwari, one of the Badinan's detainees, got released.
Lawyer Ramazan Artisi, a member of the defense team for Badinan detainees, told PUKmedia, "Badal Barwari is released, and he will return to Duhok Governorate."
"His family members wanted to see him in a private place, then return to Duhok," he continued.
Erbil criminal court sentenced Badal Barwari to a year in prison, and after more than a year, he is finally released.
Badal Barwari had been working as a teacher in the public sector for at least 27 years. He had been arrested at least four times in the past three years for allegedly encouraging popular protests.
The trials of Badinan detainees left local and international echoes and a wave of condemnation and anger, as well as serious doubts about the independence of the judiciary in the Kurdistan Region.
