Kurdistan Parliament summons KRG Minister of Natural Resources

The Energy and Natural Resources Committee of the Kurdistan Parliament held a meeting to discuss the reasons for the high prices of fuel and white oil in Kurdistan.

Karwan Gaznay, a member of the Kurdistan Parliament for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, said on his Facebook page, "The Energy and Natural Resources Committee discussed the reasons for the high prices of gasoline, oil, and gas, in the Kurdistan Region."

He continued, "The committee decided to summon the Minister of Natural Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government to Parliament to discuss the reasons for the high prices of fuel and white oil," noting that this problem has burdened the citizens of Kurdistan Region and must be addressed as soon as possible.

The Kurdistan Region has had a shortage in natural resources for a few weeks now, and the prices are getting higher daily. 

Currently, The gasoline price per liter is 70 cents (1000 dinars), but before the shortage, it was 55 cents (750 dinars.).

On Monday, the KRG Minister of Natural Resources announced that the Iraqi Oil Minister decided to send one million liters of gasoline daily to the Kurdistan Region.

Besides, the Iraqi Oil Minister also promised to send 150 thousand liters of white oil daily to the Kurdistan Region for 27 cents (400 Dinars).

"The shortage is due to a technical problem which the Bazian Refinery Station has stopped working, and we're currently cooperating with the Iraqi Government to solve the problem," the KRG minister stated.
