On Tuesday, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham, Salih separately received a copy of the credentials of the Germany Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Martin Jäger and of the Czech Republic Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Peter Stepanek. The meeting took place at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.

Iraq in its foreign policy adopted a policy of openness based on the international and regional cooperation and coordination, Iraqi President Salih said during the two separate meetings, and these are vital to meet the challenges posed by the terrorism, the climate change, environment protection, as well as curbing corruption.
Furthermore, the successful conduct of the polls was a crucial step towards forming a new Iraqi parliament and functioning government that can carry out the tasks that awaited them, he emphasized.

Where there the Iraqi people's aspirations can be met to live a life of freedom and dignity, and where there could be further development of economic, trade ties and attracting more investments, he added.

That is why Iraq seeks to support reconstruction and economic developments in the country, Mr. President highlighted.

Mr. Salih wished the two newly appointed ambassadors every success in discharging their new tasks, in the ways that better serve the relations of friendship and cooperation between Iraq and their two countries.

The two ambassadors expressed gratitude to President Salih for the warm reception, and emphasized their countries' commitment to support stability in Iraq.

There is an earnest desire to further develop ties with Iraq at every level in a way that would most benefit both countries’ citizens, they said.
