"We are tired of political heroes. We need sports heroes to raise our heads and the heads of our people too," said the President of the Kurdistan Coalition.
"We will support athletes and sports enthusiasts, and the Kurdistan Coalition's program emphasizes the importance of sports."
On Tuesday afternoon, President of the Kurdistan Coalition Qubad Talabani said during a meeting with athletes and sportsmen in Kirkuk: "We will be the supporters of Kirkuk athletes and sportsmen, and we must make sports a profession. We must also do reforms in the field of sports."
"Enough, we are tired of political heroes. We need sports heroes. It is time for sports heroes to enter the field and develop their athletic abilities and raise our heads and the heads of our nation through sports," Talabani said.
It is noteworthy that the PUK and Gorran formed the Kurdistan Coalition list last May. The coalition is headed by Qubad Talabani, who is currently the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Iraq will hold elections on October 10, ahead of schedule. Early elections were one of the demands of the protesters who took to the Iraqi streets in October 2019 to vent their anger and frustration at the government's inability to fight corruption and provide them with security and stability.
