Tourism increased by 31% in Kurdistan Region

On Friday, the General Board of Tourism of Kurdistan announced that the number of tourists visiting the Kurdistan Region during the first eight months of 2021is increased by 31% compared to the first eight months of 2020.
The board indicated that 2,500,000 tourists visited the Kurdistan Region in the first eight months of 2021.
The General Board of Tourism of Kurdistan said in a statement, "from January 1, 2021 to September 1, 2021, 2,500,000 tourists from the provinces of middle and south of Iraq and foreign countries have visited the Kurdistan Region," noting that the number has increased by 31% compared to 2020.
The Board also explained that in the past two years because of the pandemic and the closure of the airports and borders the number of tourists had been considerably low, but now that the vaccinated people are allowed to visit the region the number of tourists has increased.
