Kurdistan Region VP, US delegation discuss latest political developments

The Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, Sheikh Jaafar Sheikh Mustafa, on Tuesday received Keith Phillips, US Senior Defense Official and Defense Attaché-Iraq, Robert Palladino, the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region and their accompanying delegation. 

During the meeting, they discussed the latest political developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the relations between the US and the Kurdistan Region, the early Iraqi elections, the activities of ISIS terrorists, the reform and the unification of the Peshmerga forces and a number of other issues.

The Vice President emphasized the importance of strengthening the relations between the United States and the Kurdistan Region and Iraq and thanked the US and other friendly countries for their support and cooperation in the Ministry of Peshmarga's reform process to unify the Peshmarga forces.

The guest delegation pointed to the change in the mission of their forces in Iraq within the framework of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and the United States and affirmed that they continue to support Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in their battle against ISIS.
