On Monday, Qubad Talabani, President of the Kurdistan Coalition, opened the Coalition's Martyrs' Electoral Center in the capital Erbil and in the presence of a group of martyrs' families.

Qubad Talabani said in an interview with reporters, that "the Kurdistan Coalition is a coalition for the families of the martyrs and a product of the sacrifices of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Kurdistan."

"It is our responsibility today to protect Kurdistan and its political entity and protect the rights of the people of Kurdistan, which are stipulated in the Iraqi constitution," he also told reporters.

“Together we can protect Kurdistan and the rights of its people. For that, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Gorran Movement united under the umbrella of the Kurdistan Coalition because we are stronger together,” he added.

"The Kurdistan Coalition's program is the program of citizens and the families of martyrs. It is the coalition of the late president Mam Jalal, the struggler Nawshirwan Mustafa," Talabani said.

It is noteworthy that the PUK and Gorran formed the  Kurdistan Coalition list last May. The Coalition is headed by Qubad Talabani, who is currently the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Iraq will hold elections on October 10, ahead of schedule. Early elections were one of the demands of the protesters who took to the Iraqi streets in October 2019 to vent their anger and frustration at the government's inability to fight corruption and provide them with security and stability.
