Qubad Talabani continues to make reforms in KRG

Qubad Talabani, the deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), went to Erbil for a chain of meetings with several Region's officials to make reforms and reorganize the administrations in the Kurdistan region.

The Deputy PM has recently issued some decisions in a move to make reforms, and this step is considered an essential beginning for reform, the rule of law, and the protection of public rights from corruption.

The decisions included a reconstruction campaign to beautify Sulaymaniyah city and seize vehicles with no registration papers along with other reforms.

The campaign also included deploying Sulaymaniyah Asayish forces at all official and unofficial border crossings surrounding Garmian and Sulaymaniyah. The decision aims to confront smugglers, violators of the law, and those who violate the instructions and decisions issued by the KRG. 

Talabani calls for developing the reforms of the Ministry of Labor

On Wednesday, Qubad Talabani held a meeting to organize the plans of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Erbil.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Planning and the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.

During the meeting, they spoke about the mechanism for regulating the process of foreign workers entering the Kurdistan Region, and they decided to work on registering foreign workers. In addition, to separate visa affairs from residency permits.

In this regard, Qubad Talabani emphasized confronting corruption related to the arrival of foreign workers, granting visas and residency permits, and the legal accountability of the corrupt in this matter.

They decided to form a joint committee headed by the Ministry of Planning to follow up the instructions to prevent illegal entry and register those who enter legally in a list of private information.

Qubad Talabani emphasized protecting the rights of private-sector workers and having their information in the government.

They also decided to rush ratification of the labor law, the retirement amendment, and the Social Security Act.

Kurdistan Coalition will be a defender of the Kurds' rights in Baghdad

Qubad Talabani visited the main headquarter of the Gorran Movement in Erbil on Wednesday afternoon and was greeted by the party's officials there.

During the meeting with the officials and members of the Gorran headquarter, participants discussed the latest political developments and the preparations for starting the election campaigns, stressing the importance of cooperation between the PUK and Gorran to be able to conduct a worthy campaign for the success of the Kurdistan Coalition and its candidates.

Both sides agreed that the Kurdistan Coalition's success will pave the way for resolving the pending disputes between Erbil and Baghdad and that the Kurdistan Coalition will be a defender of the Kurds' rights in Baghdad under the Iraqi constitution.

The PUK will be participating in the upcoming Iraqi elections in a joint list with the Gorran Movement. The PUK and Gorran formed the Kurdistan Coalition list last May.

Iraq will hold elections on October 10, ahead of schedule. Early elections were one of the demands of the protesters who took to the streets in October 2019 across central and southern Iraq. 

Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis took to the streets in Baghdad and the southern provinces to vent their anger and frustration at the government's inability to fight corruption and provide them with security and stability since late 2019.  

Qubad Talabani: Receiving fees must be reorganized to revitalize the market

Qubad Talabani said on Wednesday that receiving fees must be reorganized in a way that helps trade movement and revitalizes the market.

The deputy Prime Minister of the KRG held a meeting with officials in Erbil on Wednesday to review fees and decided to determine a more suitable mechanism for reorganizing them.

At the meeting, Qubad Talabani stressed that receiving fees must be reorganized in a way that would not slow trade movements but rather boosts trade movement and revitalize the market. 

He also mentioned that routines must be cut in government institutions and that people's transactions must be fully facilitated.

During the meeting, a report on the mechanism of reorganizing fees was presented and the necessary decisions were made.

Qubad Talabani: Reforms must continue

On Wednesday, Qubad Talabani chaired the Ministry of Peshmerga's meeting regarding the latest updates in the reform plan within the Ministry of Peshmerga.

During the meeting, which was attended by Shoresh Ismail, Minister of Peshmerga, Qubad Talabani praised the Coalition Forces for their cooperation in the reform plan and the reorganization of Peshmerga forces.

Then, the Minister of Peshmerga pointed to the latest updates in the reform process and the necessities for success in the next stage of the process.

Qubad Talabani stressed that reforms should continue based on plans and measures they have taken in cooperation with the Coalition forces.

"The Ministry of Peshmerga has to work in one national direction, and the reform plan must be implemented to reorganize Peshmarga forces," Talabani added. 

He explained to the Ministry of Peshmerga officials that reforms are not easy, but they must be implemented to have an organized force, stressing that the Presidency of the Council of Ministers will spare no effort to make the reform plan successful.

At the end of the meeting, ways of solving problems and overcoming obstacles that face the reform process were discussed.
