Iraqi football Team hires the Dutch Dick Advocaat as new coach

The Iraqi Football Association signed its official contract with the Dutch coach Dick Advocaat to train the Iraqi national football team, to succeed the Slovenian Strishko Katanic.

The official agreement was reached with the Dutch coach in the Spanish capital, Madrid, after finalizing negotiations between the two sides to train the national team.

Iyad Bunyan of the Iraqi Football Association said in a statement that Advocaat was chosen based on his training record which is full of experience.

"The new coach knows our goals and plans, which will start with the decisive qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup and the team's participation in the Arab Cup and the Gulf Cup," he said.

Dick Advocaat was born on September 27, 1947. He is considered one of the prominent coaches in the European and international football arena, as he began his coaching career at the age of 32.

The veteran coach led the Dutch national team on three separate occasions, in addition to leading the Russian FC Zenit, Turkish Fenerbahçe S.K., and the English Sunderland A.F.C.

At the level of national team training, he has also coached (Serbia, South Korea and the UAE), in addition to the Russian national team.
