The KRG Presidencies: Any amendment in the Constitution need to preserve the rights of the Kurds
The three presidencies in the Kurdistan region, on Tuesday, held a joint meeting in the city of Erbil to discuss the current situation in Iraq and the region.
A statement issued after the meeting said: The three presidencies discussed the current situation in Iraq in general and its impact on the Kurdistan region, in addition to discussing the possibility of amending the Iraqi constitution, and stressed the need to take into account the interests of the Iraqi people and the Kurdistan region.
The statement added: The three presidencies confirmed that most of the problems, which currently exists, is because of the non-implementation of the provisions of the Constitution, stressing that any amendment in the Constitution need to preserve constitutional, legal and administrative rights of the Kurdistan region and the rest of the components of the Iraqi people.
The statement added: The meeting confirmed that the three presidencies will be in constant contact and will hold periodic meetings to discuss the current situation and the latest developments.
