ISIS imposes taxes on farners of Makhmour villages
Militants of ISIS terrorist organization impose taxes on the farmers and livestock owners in the Makhmour district of Erbil and that anyone who does not pay taxes is not entitled to remain within the borders of the region.
Rashad Galali, head of the Makhmur Committee of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, told PUKmedia on Tuesday 21/5/2019 that, ISIS armed men are openly entering the villages within the limits of Makhmour and force families to pay taxes. This led dozens of families to leave their homes within the area and go to the center of Makhmour .
Galadi added that, armed militants are existing in small detachments in the area, threatening residents of the villages of the Makhmour border and forcing them to pay taxes.
He pointed out that, ISIS armed militants burn farmers' crops if they refused to pay taxes.
Galali said that the presence of ISIS and in the area is due to several reasons, most notably geography of the region. The region, after the liberation of Iraq in 2003, is known as the warm area in Iraq and a place for the emergence of terrorists, adding that the only solution to this situation is to build full coordination between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces and the coalition to control the region, especially in the limits of the Qarachugh mountains range.
