Sulaimani Pop Art Band makes splash at Poland

A brief on a trip made by Sulaimani pop art band to participate in the International Festival of Ethnic and National Minorities in Poland:

Sulaimani pop art band has been successively invited for three years to participate in the festival arranged incessantly for 13 years in Poland in which 100 diverse states have taken part to date. However, Sulaimani band was not able to participate during the past two years due to visa arrangement in Polish Embassy in Baghdad, hopefully, was once more invited to take in the festival entitled “13th International Festival of Ethnic and National Minorities World under Kyczera in Poland (legnica) ” from 2th of July to 12th July 2010.

So, it shoulder-to-shoulder to other states like (Greece, France, Ozbakstan, Taywan, Slovakia, Russia, Indian Representative and three groups of different regions of Poland) participated in the festival on behalf of KRG Ministry of Culture and Youth carrying the flag of Kurdistan.

The band comprised of 23 youths conducted its performance in various villages and towns besides some governmental agencies, below was the program of the festival:

2nd July 2010

-  Arrival of participating groups

3rd July 2010

-  Street parade and concert in Chocianow (10-12 minutes)

-  Performance in Zamienice (10-12 minutes)

4th July 2010

-   Performances and animations in places around the city of Lubin (40-45 minutes)

-   Performance in Księgienice(10-12 minutes)

-   Street parade and concert in Legnickie Pole (10-12 minutes)

 

5th July 2010

-   Performances and animations in different institutions in Legnica, for example: social services and orphanages (40-45 minutes)

-   integration meeting for participant of the Festival in Legnica

6th July 2010

-   Language and art workshops in Legnica

-    Meeting with representatives of local goverment in Legnica

-    Parede and performance in Legnica (10-12 minutes)

7th July 2010

-  a day off, trip to Wroclaw (the capital of region), city tour

8th July 2010

-   Parede and performance in Szczawno Zdroj (10-12 minutes)

9th July 2010

-    Meeting with representatives of local government in Rudna

-    Performance and street animations in places aroud the town of Rudna (40-45 minutes)

-    Parade and performance in Rudna (10-12 minutes)

10th July 2010

-    Street parade, animations and performance in Lubin (10-12 minutes)

11th July 2010

-    Final performance in Legnica (10-12 minutes)

-    Departure

The band’s programs were:

1-Tablue of (Guli Khuenawi) prepared and trained by Abdul Azizi Majeed, music composed by Salah Hama Azizi.

2-Tablue of (Khak) prepared and trained by Abdul Azizi Majeed, music composed by Zana Mahmoud Hazhar.

3- Tablue of (Mama Pira) prepared and trained by Bushra Ibrahim Arif, music composed by Twana Khurshid.

4- Tablue of (Milwanka) prepared and trained by Azad Saeed, music composed by Zana Mahmoud Hazhar.

5- Tablue of Halparke (Kurdish dance) as a performance at street during peaceful demonstrations prepared and trained byAbdul Azizi Majeed, music composed by Salah Hama Azizi.

Abdul Azizi Majeed was the overseer of the band, and Salah Hama Azizi was in charge of activities and artistic affairs of the band.

Full passionately feeling responsibility towards their country, all the members of the band so eagerly acted their tasks in a way their artistic competence made a splash at the festival that grabbed the attention of all the attendees.

During a lunch banquet held for the Sulaimani pop art band, the head of festival Mr. Jerzy Starzński stated that he was keen on spending more time with the band which he described as one of the professional bands of the festival.

Furthermore, the Sulaimani band led by Abdul Azizi Majeed, Salah Hama Azizi, Bushra Ibrahim and Azad Saeed along with the representaives of the other particiapted bands held an official meeting with the Mayor of Legnica Municipality who presented two awards at his office to the Sulaimani band. At the same time, the Sulaimani band members distributed among the attendees several Kurdish cultural gifts including Kurdish hat, Hawrami Klash, villiger bag, Mishki and rosaries.

The Sulaimani Pop Art Band, carrying Kurdistan flag that led to further recognizing today’s issue of Kurdistan and showing the position of Kurdish nation in new Iraq as well as across the world, won the populartiy quickly at the festival due to its prolific performances and diversity in Kurdish clothes, music and dance.

The Sulaimani band benefited from exchanging the other peoples’ cultures in terms of art, dance and music. Therefore, it might get extra invitations in the future to participate in the International festivals thank to building a positive bridge of relation with the other nations.
