Iranian filmmaker to film the atrocities of Anfal process

An Iranian filmmaker is going to film the atrocities of Anfal process in a movie, said the movie Director.

The scenario for a movie about Anfal practice is ready and within the next weeks its shooting will begin in different parts of Kurdistan Region, said Soheil Sokhanpazhuh on Thursday.  

"My other movie, called 88, was about Halabja tragedy", the Director added.

"I am an Iranian but I have tried to explore the two Kurdish tragedies", said Sokahnpazhuh, explaining "Art is not restricted to any specific nation or country but it belongs to all".

"In the movie some facts about the Kurdish nation will be shown to the world and we try to screen the movie in the international festivals, too, so that the world gets aware of the tragedies more", he noted.       

The Iranian filmmaker, born in 1968 and a Cinema graduate from Tehran's Fine Arts College, has constituted to several festivals in his country and abroad.  

The toppled down Iraqi Baath Regime practiced a serious of atrocities, where thousands of the Kurdish people were taken to unknown destinations to be buried in mass graves finally. The practice is notoriously known as Anfal process.

In 1988 the Kurdish populated town of Halabja in Iraqi Kurdistan was gassed by the same regime, claiming the lives of 5,000 innocent people.
