Baghdad hosted on Tuesday the first international conference for translation, under the auspices of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture along with a number of international organizations.
The Iraqi Minister of Culture, Maher AL-Hadethi, said that his Ministry, with cooperation of a group of international organizations, has organized in Baghdad the first international conference of translation to activate the translation movement in Iraq and deliver the Iraqi culture to other countries through the dissemination of the folders and books.
“Iraq has a long history in translation field and the conference aims to promote this reality that has been delayed during the nineties of last century, due to what Iraq has faced from wars, siege and other things," he said.
”Dar Al-Maamoun for Translation must be activated to develop its work; We are now going to get the printing machines and we will send the Iraqi staff and translators to training sessions outside the country," Al-Hadethi added.
”There is a financial allocation to improve the translation reality in Iraq, but it is not enough, and we are now taking the opportunity to provide funds to develop this establishment," he said.
