Iraq Calls for Joint Talks as Iran Seeks to Dry up Sirwan River

PUKmedia          20:48      05/05/2008

The Iraqi government required sending a delegation to hold talks with the Iranian government as Iran seeks to dry up Sirwan River.
The KRG minister of water resources told PUKmedia that the Iraqi government called on Iran to hold joint talks concerning solving the issue of Sirwan River, which flows from Iran into Iraq, while Iran has yet kept silence.
As he said, the Kurdistan Regional Government keeps contacts with the Iraqi ministry of water resources and a KRG representative will accompany the delegation to Iran.
“We expressed our concerns over the current condition because Iraq has tried for  several years to hold talks with Iran for this purpose, but all its attempts have been in vain,” he added.
