FM Undersecretary Receives Russian Amb. in Baghdad

Mr. Labeed Abbawi, Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Policy Planning and Bilateral Relations met the Russian ambassador in his office at the ministry on Sunday May 4, 2008. During the meeting they discussed prospects for developing bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mr. Abbawi expressed the Iraqi side's desire to continue consulting with the Russian side for activating the agreements and understandings in the framework of the Iraqi - Russian joint working group, especially for reviewing previous agreements signed between the two countries.
On his part the Russian Ambassador expressed his country's support to the Iraqi Government in its efforts to establish national reconciliation and programs to impose security and reconstruction affirming Russia's serious desire to develop relations between the two friendly countries in all fields.
