Sulaimani … PUK Democratic Organizations   Hold its 1st Conference

Under the motto (Reform and Development), the democratic organizations of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) started its 1st Conference under the patronage of Jalal Talabani, the PUK Secretary General.
Mr. Kusrat Rasul Ali, the Deputy of the PUK Secretary General inaugurated the Conference on behalf of Mr. Talabani. Omar Fatah, Dr. Fuad Massum, Dr. Arslan Baiez and Emad Ahmed, members of the PUK Politburo and Mrs. Hero Ibrahim Ahmed and a number of parties and Government officials along with the heads and members of the NGOs in Kurdistan region, attended the opening ceremonies of the Conference.
The Conference started by honoring in silence the spirits of the martyrs, then Mala Bakhtiyar, Head office of PUK Democratic Organization gave a speech welcoming the attendants, he said:”The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, since its establishment has undergone through a number of   catastrophes and disasters, yet it remain the strong defender to the democratic organizations. He referred that more than 93 democratic organizations exists in Kurdistan Region.
Mr. Kusrat Rasul Ali gave a speech on behalf of Mr. Jalal Talabani; he congratulated the hold of the conference and emphasized the crucial role of the democratic organizations in consolidating and promoting democracy. He also referred to the distinguished role of Kurds in building the New Iraq.
In his word to the Conference, Mr. Omar Fatah stressed the KRG’s support to the democratic organizations. He also shed light on the KRG’s programme and projects in services and constructional fields; he said that the main task of the KRG is to solve the problems of electricity, water and fuel.
Ways of developing the work of the democratic organizations will be discussed in the conference which will last for 2 days.
