Article 140 Guarantees Peaceful Coexistence in Kirkuk, Official Says

The Secretary General of the Turkmen People’s Party, Irfan Kirkukli appreciated the role of the Iraqi President, Jalal Talabani, in defending the rights of the Turkmen people in Iraq and bridging the views among all the Iraqi fractions particularly between the Kurdish people and the Turkmen.
On Saturday Kirkukli, accompanied by a senior delegation of his party, visited the PUK Organizational Center in Khanaqin, where he made the above -mentioned statement. He was received by senior officials in the province.
The need for reinforcing joint relations between Kurds and Turkmen, and working hard to establish a united and democratic community including all the Iraqi ethnics and fractions were stressed upon during the meeting.
On the other hand, Secretary General of the Turkmen People’s Party expressed his support for article 140 of the Iraqi permanent constitution to deal with Kirkuk and other disputed areas, indicating that article 140 is the guarantee for the peaceful coexistence among all ethnic  in Kirkuk and other disputed areas.
