PUK Representative Visits German Foreign Ministry’s Office

On May 7th, the PUK Representative in Germany, Ahmad Barwary, met with Rudiger Lutz, who is in charge of Iraq’s affairs in German Foreign Ministry, along with the Advisor, Thomas Lenferding.
During the meeting, Iraq’s general concerns and regional issues were discussed while issue of article 140 in the Iraqi permanent constitution was intensely focused on. He indicated that the German Foreign Ministry will sponsor a conference on Kirkuk’s issue in Amman, Jordan, from 10th to 14th of May.  Rudiger Lutz said that the Kurdish leadership has played a vital role in defusing the political tensions on Iraq’s ground and supporting the democratization process in Iraq. He later expressed his delight at the recent opening of an office of German foreign ministry in Erbil. He also considered relations between Germany and PUK important. He promised that several projects will be implemented in Kurdistan by the German government.
On his part, Ahmad Barwary said that Germany has influence at the international level so that it can play a positive role in the region.
He then suggested that the expected projects would be better implemented not only in one city but among several cities of Kurdistan region.
