Talabani’s Suggestions to Address Sadr City Crisis See Progress

Yesterday the Committees of Security and Defense, and Human Rights in the Iraqi Council of Representatives convened to discuss the President Talabani’s letter concerning defusing the tensions between the Iraqi government and Sadr movement.
“We paced several successful steps forward in the first meeting,” lawmaker in the Council from the Sadr movement, Saleh al-Egely told PUKmedia today.
As he said, today there was a supplementary meeting between both committees to present their suggestions and then submit them to the Presidency of the Council of the Representatives.
The Sadrist bloc did not vote for all articles in the Iraqi constitution because some of them, which require amendment, caused the current crisis, al-Egely added.
He indicated that there was a mass exodus by the civilians of Sadr City because of the US random bombing.
