Iran Expresses Concerns as Iraq Supported UAE over Disputed Gulf Islands

The Iranian government strongly expressed concerns as Iraq supported United Arab Emirates (UAE) over the disputed Gulf islands- the Greater and Lesser Tunbs, and Abu Musa.
The Iranian foreign ministry delivered a letter of protest to the Iraqi embassy in Iran, demanding further clarification over the Iraq’s recognition of UAE’s rights to possess the islands.
The Iranian government has taken control of these islands since 1971 and the issue has been remained disputed between UAE and Iran since then.
