Security Developments in Iraq, May 7

Following are security developments in Iraq at 0830 GMT on Wednesday:
AL HAY - Police imposed a curfew on the town of al-Hay, 200 km (120 miles) south of Baghdad, after clashes with militiamen loyal to Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr during a raid on Sadr's office there, police said. Two people were wounded.
Al-NUMANIYA - Gunmen shot dead an army officer as he left his house in al-Numaniya town, 120 km (70 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - Five people were wounded on Tuesday when a Katyusha rocket landed near the Sarafiya Bridge in central Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - Three bodies were found in different areas of Baghdad on Tuesday, police said.
BAGHDAD - Three mortar rounds wounded 10 people on Tuesday when they landed on a residential area in the Jaifer area of Baghdad, police said.
YUSUFIYA - Gunmen shot dead a teacher as he left his school on Tuesday afternoon in Yusufiya, 15 km (9 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - Iraqi Special Forces detained seven people suspected of mounting attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces in Sadr City, eastern Baghdad, on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.
KIRKUK - The U.S. military said it captured a mid-level al Qaeda leader and detained another six suspects in Kirkuk province, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, on Monday.
