Panel Discussion and Screening of “Half Moon” Film by Ghobadi

On Tuesday 6 May, 2008, at the Cinema “Kino Pod Baranami” in Krakow, Poland, took place a discussion on topic “Kurds between music and reality” concerning the new Bahman Ghobadi’s film “Half moon” and after that -  the screening of the “Half moon”. The event was organized by Kurdish Centre for Information and Documentation from Krakow along with the cinema “Kino Pod Baranami”.
The discussion stared at 8 p.m. and last one hour. The panelists were: Dr Elzbieta Wiacek and M.A. Joanna Bochenska, both from Jagiellonian University. Dr Wiacek presented her view on the film from a perspective of expert on contemporary films. Hence she made lots of associations with modern European films e.g. Emir Kusturica. By contrast Joanna Bochenska talked about Kurdish music and Kurdish artists basing on her academic knowledge and experience gained during her various journey to Kurdistan. They also answered some questions of the viewers, who come more than 50. Although there were more questions the discussion ended because at 9 p.m. the movie “Half moon” was to start.
At the discussion and the movie has come not only Poles, mainly students, but as well many Kurds - representatives of Kurdish society in Poland, especially those living in Krakow.
The film of “Half moon” released in Poland in April, 2008. In Krakow it is shown till the end of the week.
