Kurdistan 06:47 PM - 2024-04-30DPM & British Ambassador
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani met with British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hitchen, where they discussed the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and other subjects of mutual interest.
The meeting took place on Tuesday in Erbil and was attended by the Acting British Consul General and the Deputy Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government's Foreign Relations Office. The British Ambassador questioned the Deputy Prime Minister about the Kurdish parliamentary elections, and Qubad Talabani emphasised the need of holding the elections on time, saying, "We reject any attempt to further delay the elections."
Another item discussed at the meeting was the attack on the Khor Mor gas field, which occurred a few days ago. The Deputy Prime Minister raised concern, stating: "The continuance of such attacks will jeopardise the stability of Iraq and Kurdistan. We are working with the federal government and Iraqi parties to identify the perpetrators of this act and put an end to such atrocities.”
Another section of the meeting focused on the political and security situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, emphasising the significance of addressing any political issues through dialogue.
